There are many tales of Santa Claus, but none seem to tell the entire story: How and why he came to the North Pole, why the Elves befriended him, and why he took that first magical flight. Children ask LOTS of questions, and adults hem and haw, but the questions remain:
  • "Where does Santa Claus come from?"
  • "How does Santa get around the world in just one night?"
  • "How does Santa get all those toys in the bag?"
  • "How do the reindeer fly?"
  • "How do the Elves live at the North Pole?"
Book Cover

All these questions and more are answered in this book and in the companion CD, "Santa's First Magical Ride". See Samples. The story is all told in rhyme. Rhyming is the primary language pattern of the Elves, and all children love the rhythm of rhymes.

In addition to the short Introduction and Afterword, the story is in twelve chapters. A big story needs breaks to accomodate smaller attention spans, after all. This book can also be read, or listened to on the companion CD, over the twelve days of Christmas. The longest chapter is just under 10 minutes in length; most are 3 to 7 minutes.

The author, Paul S. Carr III, and his wife, Libby Carr, have been good friends with Santa and Mrs. Claus for years, and the illustrator, Herb Leonhard, has been closely associated with the Elvish community for even longer.

Why it was written...

Through various experiences with children, grandchildren, and a lot of other kids, Paul and Libby Carr became aware the some questions about Santa Claus never change...and never get answered either. Please see the backstory for more details.

A great way to read this book...

There are lots of ways to enjoy "Santa's First Magical Ride", but we recommend sitting in a large, comfortable chair with the book in one hand and a small child or two nestled in your opposite arm. You may also be able to turn on the CD and follow along while the story in read by the author, but that isn't necessary. Reading with the child or children is great reading practice for small ones. Better yet, it allows you to find the answers to those repeated questions together, wonder at the illustrations, and just have fun!

We want "Santa's First Magical Ride" to be available to you this Christmas.

You may obtain an advance copy by contacting us at Yulestory Publishing, or going to our ORDER PAGE. Also, you can email the author or illustrator from our Contacts page with questions or comments.

Best of all, the next time a small child asks: "Where did Santa come from?" you will have the answers.
